“Building Sustainable Music Careers for Young Professionals”

 

The European project Beat on the Beat aims to design and run a training course dedicated to young professionals between the ages of 18 and 30 from the sectors of the music industry. The goal of the training activities is to nurture young talents and improve the development of entrepreneurial and professional skills of the target groups, to enable them to adapt to new creative processes and changes in the market and business particularly the green and digital transition.

Following the overall goal of encouraging the professional development of European music professionals in order to promote its competitiveness on international, this project has the following specific objectives, which guide the project and define its structure:

  • Lay the foundation for a strong and lasting alliance among partners;
  • Define a structured, implementable and replicable capacity building program for music professionals (training method)capacity building for music professionals (training methodology and tools included);
  • Provide music professionals from three countries with new skills that will enrich their knowledge base.

After a preparatory phase, which will establish the main characteristics and requirements of the training course, 10 students per country will be selected and invited to participate in the course, which will consist of three phases.

1. LEARN

At this stage, the training course is conducted online. To ensure that participants can interact and exchange ideas effectively, interactive communication tools such as chats, videoconferences and forums will be used to facilitate networking and collaboration between participants and teachers. The course will be divided into teaching modules: although the specific contents will be better defined after WP2, already now it is possible to highlight some of the main themes that will be addressed during the lectures.

  • Product analysis and management: booking, management, logistics, fundraising;
  • Web marketing and social media;
  • Operation and management of major social networks;
  • Music copyright, privacy and copyright in social media;
  • Innovative technologies for music production and dissemination: from recording to digital distribution;
  • Sustainable music: understanding and managing the ecological transition in the music industry;

2. DEVELOP .

In this phase, the training will take place in person. The students will be Rome, in the beautiful setting of the Santa Severa Castle, where they will have the opportunity to live an immersive and engaging experience, as a follow-up phase to the online training course.

Participants will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in the theoretical part through practical and group activities in a safe and supported environment.

3. PERFORM 

The final phase of the capacity-building course will involve a final project in which participants will have the opportunity to apply all the skills and knowledge acquired in the previous phases of the course, putting them into practice in a real-world context. Participants will be required to organize a musical event completely independently, managing:

  • All aspects of the process from choosing both the audience;
  • Of artist selection;
  • Of budget management;
  • To the realization of the relevant event;

Objectives of the project:

Following the overall goal of encouraging the professional development of European music professionals to promote its competitiveness on an international scale, this project has the following specific objectives, which guide the project and define its structure:

OB1 – Build the foundation for a strong and lasting alliance among partners (WP1 – WP2)
OB2 – Define a structured, implementable and replicable capacity-building program for music professionals (methodology and training tools included) (WP2)
OB3 – Provide music professionals from 3 countries with new skills that will enrich their professional lives (WP3 – WP4).
